What is Hashflare?

HashFlare is a department of HashCoins, a company that develops software for cloud mining and maintains equipment in datacenters.

What cryptocurrencies can I mine with your service?

HashFlare provides cloud mining on the following algorithms:

SHA-256, which is used to mine Bitcoins;

Scrypt, which is used to mine Litecoins*;

ETHASH, which is used to mine Ethereum;

How long does the contract last?

SHA-256 and SCRYPT contracts last 1 year(365 days) and are subject to maintenance and electricity fees (MEF).

ETHASH, EQUIHASH and DASH contracts last for 1 year (365 days) and are not subject to any fees.

How do I verify a credit card purchase via Connectum?

In order to make purchases with a credit card via Connectum, your card needs to be verified first. This is a required security measure and a method of credit card fraud prevention.

The verification process needs to be done only once for each new card.

Connectum does not process credit card payments for the UK and Bosnia and Herzegovina issuing banks.

Connectum only supports cards with 3DSecure enabled.

How do I purchase hashrate and pay for it?

In order to order hashrate you need to click Buy Hashrate in the left menu, choose hashrate and use the slider to set the amount.
Then click the Proceed button.

On the next screen, you will see the pre-invoice. If you are happy with your order, click on the checkbox below that reads "I confirm that I have read and agree to Terms and Conditions." and click the Proceed button.

You are now on the payment selection screen where you are to choose from BTC and USD payment methods.

If you choose BTC as your payment method, please don't forget about your wallet's commission when transferring the funds (we recommend checking the exact commission with your wallet provider).

Upon selecting the method you will be taken to a page with the information how to pay for your purchase. If you selected wire transfer as the selected payment method, please check the invoice that is sent to your contact email address for bank details.

Do you accept credit cards?

Yes, we accept VISA and MasterCard. For security purposes any one-time purchase has a limit of 3000 USD and you are able to make one purchase per day with same card. As an additional measure of customer protection upon purchasing hashrate using a credit card, the account gets a 14-day hold period, which only prevents withdrawals. Please keep in mind that support staff does not remove the account hold earlier due to security reasons.

How do I verify a credit card in UniversePay?

In order to make purchases with a credit card via UniversePay, your card needs to be verified first. This is required for a raised level of security and as a method against credit card fraud.

The verification process needs to be done only once for each card.

The status of my credit card purchase is Pending, Rejected or Cancelled

After creating an order you can see the status of your purchase under the "History" tab in your account.

"Pending" status is assigned to an order which has been created, but hasn't been paid.

While the order is in this state, the payment can be completed by following all the applicable steps in the following article of our FAQ. If you cannot complete the payment yourself, you can also contact HashFlare customer support for help.

"Rejected" status means, the purchase has been:
declined by the user manually
declined due to failed 3DSecure authentication
declined by the user's issuing bank due to failed authorization
In all of these cases, the funds are not reserved on the user's account.

"Cancelled" status is assigned to the order if the payment hasn’t been confirmed within a 48-hour time frame and the purchase has been marked for cancellation or reversal. It removes hold on cardholder’s funds or returns transferred funds back to cardholder’s account. The reversal process can take up to 7 days.

"Processed" status means the full payment has been received and the order has been activated. Congratulations! Immediately after receiving this status the purchased Hashrate will begin mining automatically on your account.

How to calculate estimated profit using hashrate?

Profit is calculated via the deduction of expenses from income.
The income consists of daily payouts which size depends on the hashrate. In order to calculate an estimated income using the hashrate you will need to include it in one of the calculators below (set all Power values to zero):

1. Bitcoin - for SHA-256
2. Litecoin  - for Scrypt
3. Ethereum - for ETHASH (set all Power values to zero)
4. DASH  - for X11 (set all Power values to zero)
5. Zcash - for EQUIHASH (set all Power values to zero)

Next, deduct the maintenance + electricity fee of 0.0035 USD per 10 GH/s of SHA-256 and 0.005 USD per 1 MH/s of Scrypt from the income. ETHASH, X11 and EQUIHASH contracts are not subject to any fees.

The sum you end up with is your estimated profit.

What influences my income and profit?

SHA-256 is used to mine Bitcoins (BTC). This means, that the only factor which influences the income is the mining difficulty. You can see the difficulty growth chart here - link.

Scrypt is used to mine Litecoins (LTC). This means, that there are 2 factors which influence the income:
the difficulty of mining;
the exchange value of LTC/BTC.
Scrypt payouts are converted from LTC to BTC and then added to user's balance.

SHA-256 and Scrypt contracts are also subject to daily maintenance+electricity fees (MEF) which are deducted from each payout. Currently the MEF is 0.0035 USD per 10 GH/s of SHA-256 and 0.005 USD per 1 MH/s of Scrypt.

Once the MEF is deducted from a payout, the remaining amount is considered your profit.
*BTC/USD exchange value also influences the MEF.

ETHASH is used to mine Ethereum. As the payouts are provided in ETH, the only factor of influence is the difficulty of mining.

X11 is used for mining DASH. The main factor influencing the income is the mining difficulty.
ETHASH and X11 contracts are not subject to any additional fees.

Maintenance and electricity fees (MEF)

The mining process requires energy consumption and human resources for the maintenance. In order to cover these fees all users are issued with maintenance and electricity fees (MEF) accordingly to their contract type and hashrate.

The MEF is linear and equals 0.0035 USD per every 10 GH/s of SHA-256 and 0.005 USD per every 1 MH/s of Scrypt per day. Ethereum contracts are not subject to any fees.

Maintenance and electricity fees are not billed in an invoice. Instead the fees are deducted from the customer's balance at the moment of daily payouts. Despite the fact that balance is accounted for in BTC and the fees - in USD, the fees are deducted in BTC according to the current USD/BTC exchange rate which is beneficial for the customer in case the exchange rate trend is positive - more BTC remains in the customer's balance.

Why am I unable to withdraw funds from my account balance?

You can make 1 withdrawal per currency every 24 hours.

To ensure customer's account and balance security the system may automatically apply a hold, disallowing any withdrawals for the time the hold is active (14 days). There are multiple reasons for a hold to be applied:

1. Change of a wallet address;

2. Purchase made with a credit card;

3. Change of password.

In addition, if a referral makes their first ever purchase or a purchase using a credit card, the account of the referrer is placed on hold for 72 hours.

Please note that technical support cannot remove the hold before it is automatically removed by the system.

I have purchased some hashrate. When will I get a payout?

All payouts occur once per day. You will receive your first payout the following day after completing a purchase. Afterward, the payouts continue daily.

Usually, the payouts are made from 00:00 to 09:00 UTC. As the workload required to complete the payouts is significantly higher right now, the process now runs from 00:00 to 13:00 UTC.

Withdrawals: currencies and commission fees

Withdrawals for SHA-256 and Scrypt contracts are available in Bitcoin only.
Minimum Bitcoin withdrawal amount is 0.0107 BTC (incl. commission fees).
Withdrawals for ETHASH contracts are available in Ethereum only.
Minimum Ethereum withdrawal amount is 0.1006 ETH (incl. commission fees).
Withdrawals for X11 contracts are available in DASH only.
Minimum X11 amount is 0.1003 DASH (incl. commission fees).

Can there be a negative balance?

There are rare cases when a user's balance might be mistakenly increased during a technical maintenance. If a user who received more funds than his hashrate allows withdraws these funds, the account balance becomes negative. There are 2 options for a user to restore the balance:

1. Contact technical support and then send the mistakenly added funds back to the wallet address provided;

2. Do nothing and wait until daily payouts restore the balance to positive values.
There are no other possible cases in which a user's balance might become negative. In a case when the mining costs (the ones covered with the maintenance fee) become higher than the mining revenue, the hardware will be automatically switched off. The hashrate will still remain on users' accounts and will be activated again once the mining becomes profitable.

How to make a withdrawal?

In order to send/transfer funds from your account balance to your wallet, you need to make a withdrawal. You can create 1 withdrawal per currency every 24 hours. In order to do so, you will need to follow these steps:

Go to your User Panel and select "Dashboard";
Find and click the "Withdraw" button in top right corner;
Choose the amount to be transferred and click "Withdraw";
Go to your email inbox (the one connected to your HashFlare account) and click on a link in the withdrawal confirmation letter from the system.
Generally, you can withdraw any amount (up to your total balance) from your HashFlare account. However, there are several rules you need to keep in mind:

1. Each withdrawal is a subject to a transaction fee, which is paid to the blockchain for transaction processing and confirmation. Currently, the following withdrawal minimums are present:
minimal BTC withdrawal is 0.0107 BTC, where 0.0007 BTC is paid to blockchain*;
minimal ETH withdrawal is 0.1006 ETH, where 0.0006 ETH (in GAS equivalent) is paid to blockchain.
minimal DASH withdrawal is 0.1003 DASH, where 0.0003 DASH is paid to blockchain;
minimal ZEC withdrawal is 0.10003 ZEC, where 0.00003 ZEC is paid to blockchain;

2. Each withdrawal must be requested and confirmed by the user on an individual basis. Automatic withdrawal function without the direct involvement of the user is not provided by the system. In order to confirm a withdrawal, please find an email from alerts@hashflare.io in your email inbox.

Withdrawals are processed immediately after confirmation and the coins usually arrive within under an hour. If the funds are still not in your wallet after 24 hours, please submit a support request.

*Update 22.12.2017 09:15 UTC: BTC withdrawals are enabled in test mode, with the minimum withdrawal amount set to 0.05 BTC. Bitcoin network fee at the moment is 0.0006 BTC. We are working on changing the method of creating transactions to batches of multiple withdrawals, to reduce the time it takes withdrawals to reach the destination wallets and to reduce the network fee for our customers. We do not recommend withdrawing while the network fee is this high.

How do I change my wallet address?

1. You need to log in and go to Settings;

2. Find an appropriate field and enter/change a wallet address. After you're done - save the changes;

3. Go to your email service and find an email from us. There will be a confirmation link which you need to click. If there is no message, check your "Spam" folder.

Warning! Changing the wallet will temporarily block withdrawals for 2 weeks due to security precautions.

How to create a Bitcoin wallet?

The two general types of Bitcoin wallets are offline and online.

Offline wallets store your bitcoins on a computer and they do not require an internet connection. However, such wallets require a lot of space on your hard drive and your constant attention (e.g. it is recommended to make backups weekly).

An online wallet requires you to be connected to the Internet. You have to enter your login and password to access your wallet from any device and you don’t have to worry about its maintenance.

If you choose to use an offline wallet, then we recommend to download and install Electrum. Run the program and follow the instructions.

If you choose to use an online wallet, then sign up to Uphold. It provides the best security and utility among other online wallets. First, visit the signup page, enter your email address and choose a password. Second, check your inbox, look for a message from CryptoPay and confirm your account by clicking on the confirmation link in the message. All done!

How to reate an Ethereum wallet?

We recommend using the Mist Ethereum Wallet. You can download Windows, Linux and OS X versions from the developer's page here: https://github.com/ethereum/mist/releases
Download the version for your operating system and install it. After installation, follow the instructions in the application to finish creating your wallet.

Note: please, be aware that this wallet will download the Ethereum blockchain which is over 9 GB in size.

How to create a DASH wallet?

We recommend using the Dash Core wallet, which is based on the well known Bitcoin Core QT wallet, but has a custom aesthetic. Anyone familiar with this one will be up and running with the Dash wallet in very little time.

You can find a detailed article with download and installation instructions for Windows, Linux and OS X versions on dash.org.

Zcash address, withdrawals and wallet

Zcash has two types of addresses: z-addr and t-addr. Z-addr uses zero-knowledge proofs and other means of protecting user privacy, while t-addr is similar to a Bitcoin address. At present, t-addr is used by most of the pools and exchanges as z-addr takes a lot of computing power to generate a transaction.

HashFlare currently uses t-addresses for withdrawals.

Largest cryptocurrency exchanges such as Poloniex and Kraken provide t-addr for deposit and are the recommended option for withdrawing your funds.

Official Zcash wallet is also available via the following (https://z.cash/download.html), but it is limited to Linux and does not have a native GUI (Mac / Windows versions will be available in due time).

How and where can I spend Bitcoin?

If you’re not sure where to spend your mined bitcoins, let’s have a look at a couple of options, that will help you spend your bitcoins pretty much anywhere.

1. Bitcoin Debit Cards
You can easily fund a debit card from your Bitcoin-wallet balance. This solution provides access to a large selection of merchants, just as any MasterCard or VISA debit card.
Currently this is the easiest and most flexible method.

2. Gift Cards
If the store with the desired item doesn’t accept Bitcoin, you can often find that it will offer gift-cards. And a lot of gift-card businesses accept Bitcoin.
You can even get some discounts using this method, although you need to purchase them in advance and usually the gift-cards are limited to a particular store.

3. Pay with Bitcoin on Amazon

Using such services like Purse.io you can buy anything from Amazon.com. The service works by matching people who have Bitcoin and want to buy something on Amazon with people who want to buy Bitcoin and ready to make a purchase.

You can get some really great discounts using this tool but it only works for making purchases at a limited range of internet retailers, and it can take longer to complete a purchase than it would normally.

As for us here at Hashflare, we deem the Bitcoin Debit Card as the most convenient solution. If you decide to get your own Bitcoin Debit Card, we recommend using Cryptopay.

What is Reinvest? How do I use it?

The Reinvest function allows you to automatically buy additional hashrate as soon as your Balance allows it.

You can enable the Reinvest function in the Panel in the Balance block. Click "Reinvest" and select the type of hashrate.

Activating this function will use your current Balance to purchase the maximum possible amount of hashrate.

After every payout, the system will check if your Balance is sufficient to purchase at least a minimum amount of hashrate (10 GH/s for SHA-256 or 1 MH/s for Scrypt). If it is, then the purchase will be created and automatically confirmed.

How do I disable Reinvest?

In order to disable the reinvest feature on your account please select "Reinvest" from your account's Dashboard, select "Do not Reinvest" from the drop-down menu and confirm the change via the "Save" button.

Please note that the reinvest function is disabled by default. HashFlare technical support can not restore the balance if you have mistakenly activated the reinvest.

How does pool allocation happen and work?

Our equipment is set up to work with a number of pools. When you select a specific pool and the hashrate percent allocated to it, our system begins to use that amount of hashrate in the selected pool. The accounting happens daily, thus you are able to change the pools once a day. After the system calculates your hashrate's input and the total payout from that pool you will be given your share of the mined BTC.

I did not get a confirmation email. What do I do?

If you haven’t received a confirmation within 10 minutes, please check your “Spam” folder. In case you don’t receive anything after 24 hours email us to support@hashflare.io.

I've lost my password, what should I do?

1. Click “Forgot password” button in the login screen.

2. Enter the email address you used to register your account with.

3. Log in to your email and check your inbox for the password reset email. Make sure it is sent from @hashflare.io

4. Follow the link in the email and enter a new password. The email may take up to 10 minutes to be delivered (make sure to check the spam folder if you don't receive it.
Warning! Resetting the password will temporarily block withdrawals for 2 weeks due to security precautions.

How to reset 2-factor authentication?

If for some reason you cannot pass the 2-factor authentication, we can remove it after verifying ownership of your account.

How can I increase the security of my account? 2-factor authentication

Two-factor authentication is an additional security measure for your account. In addition to your usual login and password, you will be asked to enter a security code which is generated by a third-party mobile application (such as Authy, Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator).

To enable two-factor authentication go to Settings in the Panel, scroll down until you see "2-factor authentication", and then click "Enable". Download application for your mobile OS and scan QR-code shown on the screen. Finally, enter the security code generated by the app in the required text box ("Enter token from your phone").

May I delete my HashFlare account?

Yes. To do so please write an informal request to support@hashflare.io from the email address you have registered with.

How does the HashFlare Referral Program work? What is a referral program?

Every HashFlare customer has a unique referral link, which can be shared with anyone, you would like to invite to start using HashFlare. Any new user, who registers using your referral link becomes a lifetime referral.

What rewards can I receive for referring?
